I saw it again today at our community pool. The shrug. The response to a parent who complains about the sorry state of public education, and the parent who responds with the shrug “whadaya gonna do?” I am proud to be one of those parents who has chosen to row against the tide, and take control of my children’s education. Entering my 18th year of homeschooling, I now have cultivated a rather radical point of view that goes something like this: I am going to educate my children to the best of THEIR ability, and I am going to use the best tools possible to do it.
