Maize Virtual Preparatory School: Tuition-free Kansas Virtual School
Calvert is pleased to announce that Maize USD 266 has chosen to use the Calvert School curriculum in their new virtual public school option for students in Kansas! Maize Virtual Preparatory School (MVPS) offers the trusted Calvert School Curriculum tuition-free to students in Kansas in grades K-8!
By enrolling in Maize Virtual Preparatory School, families get the best of home education coupled with all of the benefits and support services offered through a public school district. Students get individualized and personal lesson plans that can be tailored to their needs and goals with one-to-one instruction that ensures those needs are met to the highest standards. MVPS, an accredited Kansas virtual school program, is parent- and student-driven, but provides the guidance and instructional support of experienced Kansas state-certified teachers.
Students will participate in both online and offline course work using web-based tools, textbooks, workbooks, and supplies. A parent or guardian serves as the Learning Guide, offering assistance, verifying work, and serving as liaison with the MVPS education support staff.
Gary Lewis, a pioneer of distance education in Kansas, will lead the MVPS program as Director of Educational Outreach. “Education is about finding your passion or love of learning,” Lewis said. “I am thrilled to be partnered with Calvert as MVPS begins our journey to excellence. Our journey focuses on positive, supportive relationships at all levels in which we embrace and recognize all talents.”
